The yet unidentified woman who snatched Ballot 018 from a polling unit around Admiralty Way escaped to an unknown location in spite of the attempt by a citizen observer to apprehend her.

“I trailed her from Admiralty to one village at the back of Northern Culture Estate, but she escaped before I could park my car,” said a resident of the area who doubles as a citizen observer.

“She went away with ballots that we had not yet voted with. First, the polling units were all messed up. We took our party agents to where they were supposed to be but we couldn’t find them after an hour. We later found out that they were all inside Oba Elegushi’s palace in Ikate. There are six polling units there.

“There is one polling unit inside the palace that we cannot account for. There were attempts to bribe, discharge or intimidate our agents there. Some people also threatened to slap me.”

The Lagos State local government elections were marred by low voter turnout.
