05.01.2022 news BREAKING: Fire Guts Popular Slum in Lagos

Fire has consumed an unspecified number of shanties in Makoko Waterfront, Lagos, FIJ can report.

A resident of the area, who confirmed the development to FIJ, said the cause of the fire was yet unknown.

“Many houses don catch fire as I speak to you,” he said.

Another resident said almost all the houses in Jebba Street had caught fire.

At press time, emergency responders from the Lagos State Fire Service had not arrived at the scene.
