The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) in Sokoto has arrested and paraded Bello Galadima, one of the notorious bandits terrorising the state.

Galadima was nabbed on Wednesday around Aliyu Jodi area of the state while going to buy sex enhancement drugs.

Hamza Adamu, the NSCDC spokesman, said in a statement that the notorious bandit was arrested following intelligence reports from locals and residents in the community.

“NSCDC under the leadership of Commandant Muhammad Saleh Dada arrested a wanted notorious bandit following intelligence on his activities and movement from the members of Hamma Ali community,” Adamu said.

“The commandant directed its intelligence team to liaise with the arms squad unit to track and arrest him.”

Residents and locals said 40-year-old Galadima was arrested in one of the bandits’ hideouts in the community.

According to Daily Star, a newspaper based in the state, the marauder had come to buy sex enhancement drugs in Aliyu Jodi when he was arrested.

Galadima’s arrest came two days after bandits killed two and abducted over 50 travellers in the state.

Earlier this month, a joint operation between the Nigerian Army and the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF) had recovered several items from two logistics suppliers of Boko Haram in Borno state.

The items recovered from the Boko Haram collaborators suggest that the terrorists are living comfortably in their hideouts, from where they plan their raids.

The recovered items include sex enhancement drugs, insecticides, foodstuffs, handheld grenades, vehicles, bicycles and phones.
