At the Oluwadare House 23 polling unit in Fola Agoro, Lagos State, men wielding canes were observed intimidating voters.

They prevented everyone from using phones and threatened to smash this reporter’s phone. They also targeted young voters, because according to them, it was the young people who were voting for the Labour Party (LP).

“This is not Anambra,” they told voters. “If you want to vote for LP, go to Anambra. This place is Lagos.”

They came on foot and drove off in mini-buses.

A lady living close to the polling unit told FIJ she would not come out to vote because her vote wouldn’t count, and that she was scared of what the APC thugs would do.

She told FIJ, “Did you see what happened with the last election? My vote did not count, and I was there all day. We all know the APC rigs, but the last rigging was massive and discouraging.”

This reporter also noticed that there was low voter turnout, in contrast to what was recorded at the presidential polls.
