Upon arrival at the scene, patrols and CID officers found Mukesh’s corpse and other severely injured Indians. The injured were subsequently taken to a hospital, while the dead was transferred to a forensic laboratory.

A search and investigations team would later arrest the two Nigerians at Al Nahda and Sharjah, two separate provinces in Dubai.

During the police interrogation, one of the Nigerians confessed that he came to the UAE five years earlier and turned to bootlegging after receiving a low salary from the company he worked for.

He also said that he, alongside the second arrested Nigerian, had gone to Al Tayy not knowing that a group of Indian bootleggers already dominated the area.

The Indian group came to them later, asking them to leave. A fight eventually broke out when the two groups refused to divide the area in half.

During questioning, the second Nigerian denied ever being at the crime scene. He also claimed he arrived in the country in mid 2021 to buy automobile spare parts and had refused to join the first Nigerian in his bootlegging business.

The police launched a manhunt for a third Nigerien, who is also suspected of being involved in the fight.
