William Kumuyi, General Superintendent of the Deeper Life Bible Church, has cancelled his crusade scheduled for Aba, Abia State.

The decision was communicated via a statement issued on Saturday by James Akpofure, chairman of the crusade organising committee.

The statement read in part, “As there are currently some security challenges at the intended alpha location (Aba, Abia State, Nigeria), the Global Crusade Convener, Pastor (Dr) W.F. Kumuyi commiserates with our people in Abia State and will be praying along for God’s divine intervention.”

The decision came hours after the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) issued a second statement to the cleric, warning him not to hold the crusade due to insecurity in the southeast region of the country.

The statement, signed by Emma Powerful, IPOB’s media and publicity secretary, read, “We are the global movement and family of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) led by our great liberator Mazi Nnamdi Okwuchukwu Kanu.

“IPOB wants to be clear in its position to wit: we are not exaggerating over the security situations within the eastern region of Nigeria.

“We maintain our sincere advice to pastor William Kumuyi of Deeper Life Ministry on his planned crusade in Aba. This advice must be taken seriously and not ignored because if anything untoward happens to anyone in the said crusade we will hold him responsible.”

On Saturday, the severed head of Okechukwu Okoye, lawmaker representing Aguata State Constituency 1 in the Anambra House of Assembly, was spotted in the Nnobu Idemili South Local Government Area (LGA) of the state. He was abducted a week earlier.

Kumuyi’s crusade was scheduled to hold in Aba from May 24 to May 29, 2022, but will now no longer happen.
