The United Bank for Africa (UBA) has returned N84,000 to Fatai Ibrahim, a Lagos State-based retiree.

Ibrahim got the money six days after FIJ reported how he mistakenly sent it to PalmPay instead of an Opay account on January 21 and waited for a refund in vain for two months.

In an appreciation message to FIJ on Monday morning, the retiree said, “UBA paid my money yesterday at about 11 pm.

“I am very grateful to you for your efforts. It was a long way to justice.”

The Lagos-based retiree had earlier narrated to FIJ how he contacted PalmPay and the UBA regarding the incident and was assured of getting his money.

He, however, did not get a refund as PalmPay insisted that his N84,000 could only be retrieved by the UBA, the originating bank.
