The Ogun State Police Command has nabbed Monday Agbebakun, a fraudster who scammed N260,000 from Oyede Saheed, a lecturer at the Department of Insurance, University of Jos.
FIJ learned that Adegbakun was taken to trial at a Magistrate Court in Isabo, Abeokuta, on Thursday, and was granted N30,000 bail. He was asked to provide two sureties with landed properties around the court premises. The sureties, according to the court, must present evidence of tax clearance. The case was adjourned until February 25, 2022.
On Wednesday, had FIJ reported how the accused scammed some money from Saheed. The latter’s efforts to retrieve it proved abortive because Adegbakun enjoyed the protection of police officers attached to Adigbe Police Station, Abeokuta, Ogun State.

After FIJ’s story, Abimbola Oyeyemi, the Ogun State police spokesperson, ordered Agbebakun’s arrest. “The PPRO said he called the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of Adigbe Police Station to swing into action,” Saheed told FIJ.

Oyeyemi confirmed the arrest and prosecution of Adegbakun to FIJ on Thursday.
