Jumia has made a refund of N24,760 to Daniel Okika, the Lagos-based businessman who received a defective rechargeable fan from the online market.

Okika told FIJ that he received a refund on Thursday.

“I received a payment for the rechargeable fan from Jumia,” he said.

“I sincerely appreciate all the efforts you made towards the refund. Thank you.”

On January 31, FIJ reported how the business owner was denied a refund after he rejected a defective fan from Jumia.

Okika had narrated how Jumia frustrated every attempt to secure a refund.

“In November 2022, I placed an order for a rechargeable fan worth N24,760 on Jumia but a defective fan was delivered,” he said.

“I returned the fan and Jumia promised to send me a refund within seven working days.

“I didn’t receive the promised refund from Jumia, and on November 25, I sent them another email.

“They responded again, but this time they asked me to provide my account details. I obliged and sent them the details of my Access Bank account.

“A refund that should only take a few days has dragged into weeks and is still ongoing. Jumia is up to something.”

When FIJ reached out to Jumia, a customer service representative asked that our reporter provide the customer’s order number, and a refund was made in about a week
