Air Peace airline has refunded N37,500 to Olamide Francis, a London-based freelance journalist.

Francis told FIJ on Saturday that he was paid the sum on May 26. The amount was a refund on a N50,000 flight ticket he earlier bought and cancelled in February.

“I want to let you know that I got my money back last week,” Francis said on Saturday. “They deducted 25 percent. Thank you.”

A month earlier, FIJ reported how Air Peace failed to refund Francis’ fare despite acknowledging a cancellation of his planned February 27 trip.

Four days earlier, on February 23, Francis purchased two Lagos-Abuja flight tickets for himself and his wife, but prior to the travel date, he wrote to the airline to reschedule his wife’s trip to March 23 and cancel his.

Air Peace acknowledged in writing. The airline told him via mail that he would have to forfeit 15 percent of the fare and get what was left of it.

After finally making the refund, the airline again wrote to him that it charged 25 percent because the cancellation was made via “voluntary request”.
